What a Waist! Get a figure to die for at Rockabilly Pin Up

An essential accessory that can be worn with anything, the belt will make any fabulous summer dress into a sensational one! It's all one needs to pull in at all the right places for an instant hourglass effect. In some cases an elasticated waistline on a skirt or dress will act as a hidden belt, having a similar feel. Curvy shapes as well as thinner figures will find that the waist band or belt is a seriously flattering look! Here are just some ways to get a figure to die for!

Burgundy Elastic Nurses Retro Belt by Hell Bunny.
The nurses belt started life as a practical part of a nurses uniform, hence the name. However, the hardworking ladies in the medical profession soon realised that this was a very chic look too! Its elastic pulled in at the waist bringing a flattering flare at the hips. Something along the lines of Vintage Christian Dior even. Soon the nurse's belt could be found everywhere-Us girls loved them and we still do to this day. Find this style in a range of different colours at Rockabilly Pin Up. The nurses belt is a staple part of any feminine and fabulous wardrobe!

Red Poppy 50's Swing Skirt by Hell Bunny
Cotton is the perfect fabric for the Red Poppy 50's Swing Dress from Hell Bunny. Not only is the quirky print a fun and vibrant one, but the cut of the skirt means that it hangs beautifully from the hips. The cotton flows freely and the wider end means that the waist can be pulled in, a look that is quintessentially 1950's! Yet the style works so well today, and like with a elasticated nurses belt, the attached narrow waistband pulls the outfit together. Even if you are not naturally blessed with a waspish waist (let's face it, not many of us are!) a fitted waist band with a slight flared skirt of dress will do wonders for the figure.

Vintage dresses, especially those with a hint of 1950's inspiration, will almost always have a fitted waist- A look that was so reminiscent of the era's fashion. But even if your dress hasn't got a featured belt or sewn-in waist band, there are ways to mimic this look. A piece of ribbon could be all that's needed to totally transform your dress, giving it a tailored style. A tie ribbon on the waist of this Black Cotton Vintage Dress is used like a belt. It's a versatile look too, the big bow can be tied at the back or side of the waist. Find the ribboned waist look on wrap dresses also.  Complete with dainty polka dots and a layer of netted petticoat- here's just one vintage dress at Rockabilly Pin Up that will turn heads!

No matter what your body type happens to be, the pinched in waist can make all the difference when it comes to getting the vintage look spot on!
