Halloween Party Time!

We are in Halloween spirit! Spooky skeletons and screechy bats are filling our daydreams, and we spend far too much time looking up the best recipes and Halloween decorations.

We also remembered, almost at the last moment, that we might need a costume! These aren't our last moment Halloween ideas like we did last year, but they are costumes featuring our shop favourites. We went for the perfect combo of comfortable, stylish and flattering, so we, and you, can have fun while looking your best.

Kickass Cowgirls are always a good choice, especially when it means you can kick it in a pair of capris and a white top. All you really need is a pair of boots and a matching hat!

It's no secret we're obsessed with this dress. After all, we devoted an entire blog post to it, so you could have pretty much expected it will be here somewhere. We also popped over to our sister site, The Gothic Shop and got a pair of devil horns. And in case that's too subtle... some devil heart jewellery! Now excuse us while we go sing Devil in Disguise!

We wanted something vampy, we wanted something slightly sinister and alluring... we went with the dramatic and mysterious queen of spades in a black lace dress.  We stole makeup from our big sis The Gothic Shop, because that glitter eyeliner is just perfect for some spade inspired makeup art!
Of course you have to have a witch costume for Halloween. It's traditional, after all. With a spiderweb skirt and a black velvet top, we are ready to cast some dazzling spells!

Last minute Halloween

We here at Rockabilly Pinup are all up in a tizzy over Halloween!  We've been racking our brains for days trying to decide on the perfect Halloween costume, but we have been so spoiled for choice! We also wanted to have a costume that we could put together from our own closet, and look stylish in, so we sat down and came up with 4 costume ideas from classic to the more unusual and are now sharing them with you.

We can't think of a more appropriate Halloween costume than a witch! The novelty print dress is full of seasonal spirit, but if you are a Rockabella of a creepy bent, you can wear it the year round. If you don't have a Halloween print dress on hand, a simple black dress will do. All this outfit really needs is a small witch hat. The broom is entirely optional.

The Mime is always a very easy last-minute costume to put together. All you really need is a striped top, a beret and a bandanna. You can even forgo the white face paint and opt for a more toned-down look.  You can swap out this dress for a pair of capris and one of our striped tops for a more authentic look.

Alice in wonderland is a great example of a small white cocktail apron doing wonders (we refuse to apologize for this pun).  Any dress in a solid blue or teal colour will do, and if you don't have a pair of queen of hearts heels, you can always make do with a pair of flats. Tuck a pair of playing cards in the waistband of the apron and tie a white ribbon as an Alice band, and you're good to go!

We left the Little Red Riding Hood for last. The owl and forest themed dress, paired with a wicker basket and a red hooded cape may not be the easiest costume to pull together last minute, but any of our pretty  patterned dresses combined with a red hood will do. Now all you need is your big bad wolf!

Halloween hollerin'

For some gals Halloween is a chance to show their true colours, while for others it is a time to be someone they admire or just to dress up as someone or something fun.

But where do you find that perfect Halloween outfit?
The choices are plenty when you are a child- almost every supermarket carries a selection of masks and costumes, and as most of them will be covered in candy and dirt by the end of the night, quality isn't really an issue.  But as you grow older, your taste starts to change. You want your costume to fit better, the style to flatter your figure more and you want to look and feel special. Costume rental shops, where available, will probably have something you might like, and the most popular costume choices can be found online in a wide range of styles and prices.

The best costumes, however, are those you design yourself, as they reflect your personality and creativity. To help you on your way, we have created a few suggestions and offer our own twist on these Halloween favourites!

She's my witch! features the Ophelia dress in black, guaranteed to flatter every figure. Ward off those autumn chills with a faux fur shrug, and make sure not to forget your hat! And since all witches need a black cat, we decided on a pair of kitten heels and a mooncat pendant.

Aye aye captain! is a nautical inspired set for the lady who takes the ship's wheel firmly into her own hands. We paired the anchored skirt with nautical inspired jewelry and a bold red top to show who's really in charge!

All heads turn when this Gunslinger girl wiggles into the saloon!
We were inspired by all those Sunday morning westerns we watched while growing up, and wanted to make a female version of all those tough cowboy cookies!

This Rebel rebel girl  feels more comfortable in a pair of pants than a petticoat! Your style is sharp and your heels crush hearts! Anyone would be lucky to get to ride off with you into the night!
