Wedding Season

Yikes! It’s the wedding season!

If you go online to see tips and tricks for weddings, you get overwhelmed by contrary information, advice and counter-advice and just so much information it sets your head spinning.  We know, because we just suffered through it. And we suffered through it so you don’t have to! In the end, we boiled it all down to several simple and sensible guidelines: Don’t overshadow the bride, don’t wear anything that might not be appropriate in a town hall/church, and wear something you will feel good in!

See, we told you it was sensible, didn’t we?

To help you out even more, we put together a few sets to get you in the right festive mood, and inspire your wedding outfits!

Does it get more elegant and festive than this dress? We went all matchy-matchy with the accessories, using different shades of turquoise to reflect the distinct colours on the dress.

We can’t get enough of this dress. Just like the lady it was named for, the Hepburn radiates style and grace and class.  It’s the perfect companion- classical in cut, and ladylike and playful in pattern. We matched the nail polish to the blue butterflies, and the purse to the belt and the black butterflies. There’s no going wrong there!

Of course, you might want to go for something more youthful in case the wedding is more of a cocktail party style and has a less traditional dress code.  This dress is just a bit above  knee length, so you can show off some leg too! 

We saved the most playful dress for last. This gorgeous summer dress is a burst of vivid colour, and just the perfect thing to celebrate life and love. We can't get enough of this gorgeous purple, and decided to leave it as the main colour, and choose complementary accessories.

Four First Dates

February, the time when all of nature sings of love and.. other things.

There is a certain new hope in the air, the promise of a winter soon over and of longer, sunnier days. What's not to love about it?

We're looking forward to spring, to new beginnings, to young and fresh love, so to celebrate it all, we decided to put together four perfect first date outfits, to inspire you (and us)! 

We're opening with this red and blue number, with black accents. Don't be afraid to mix various shades of one colour, like we did here with blues. They will only serve to complement each other, and the rich, elegant shade of red of this dress. 

The key to pink is the amount. too much and the first thing people will think is either a popular online feline, or a giggling teenage girl. That's by no means to say that you shouldn't think pink! We added (almost) all pink accessories to this black and pink dress to create a striking and bold, yet alluring set. 

And if you wear your heart on your sleeve, and strut the world proud, why not do it in a red velvet dress? After all, the finest pralines come in a velvet box, and so should your luscious self! Don't be afraid to pair this dress with high heels as the swing of your hips will really make it come alive! 

If elegant, old world style is your preference, and a walk through rainy Parisian streets is your idea of the perfect first date, why not go with this sleek and very late 50's inspired poodle print dress? This dress calls for a somewhat lower heel and simple but striking accessories, such as a heart shaped purse to send the right message.

Swing it!

As colder weather sets in, you might find yourself reaching for trousers and tighter skirts, sighing as you pack away all your beautiful and playful swing skirts, leaving perhaps only one or two special occasion dresses.
We used to do that for years, until it occurred to us- why shouldn't winter be a swinging season? After all, we wear our wiggle dresses with opaque tights and boots, what's to stop us from doing the same with our swing dresses?  This year we decided to keep our swing dresses where they belong, and paired them with strong, bold colours to chase away the winter gloom.

Hot cakes features one of our favourite dresses, and the moment we thought about the perfect match for it, we knew everything had to be hot pink!  Yum!

This next dress just made us think of mint-crisp winter mornings and hot orange tea our grandma used to make. We added spicy tights and and a fresh cardigan, but we kept the booties a little more sensible, so grandma won't disapprove ;)

But it's not just dresses that have that special swing to them! Skirts can be just as versatile and just as comfy to wear in the winter!  A gentle pink can be paired with greys for a romantic wintry feel without going into drab colouring or looking too childish.  We added bolder pink makeup to this pastel coloured skirt and mixed our shades of grey to give the outfit a grown up, sophisticated feel.

It usually takes us a bit of time until we fall in love with Lady Winter all over again.  But when we rediscover our love, we like to celebrate it! You'll be a proper Ice Queen in this black and icy blue outfit,  but the hot red lips hint at the burning fires beneath your cool exterior!
